The Florence Cathedral dominates the skyline in Florence with its beautiful orange roof and large dome engineering by Filippo Brunelleschi. It began construction in 1296 and the structure was finished by 1436, the reason for the delay being the passing of the initial architect Arnolfo di Cambio and the Black Death in 1348. This is an absolutely amazing piece of architecture and is now a UNESCO world heritage site due to its beauty and interesting history. The dome it is so iconic for is still the third largest dome in the world. Pretty impressive!
